When I first started sketching characters for my kaiju comic, the first character I drew was a very Godzilla-like monster (1). At the time, I just knew I wanted to do a humorous kaiju comic, so my design was kind of generic and directionless.

By the time I started another round of sketching, the idea of the star being "the Littlest Daikaiju" had come to me, and I was pushing into more cartoony territory (2). I ended up scraping this little guy because I felt the t-rex style face lacked character.

I started again going for a flat, (slightly) more human-like face that would lend itself for more expression. Now I had the basics of what would become Rexsor: fins and spike on head, heavy brow and ape-like arm and leg proportions (3). The last real physical changes were adding an ankylosaurus tail, putting some scales on him and bringing out the jaw (4). From that point, I just fooled around with my style, starting out with a sketchier rendering in "the Zit" (5) and eventually ending up with the smoother version I draw now (6).
